Rebecca Elbert is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with 40 years of experience as a nurse, and 15 years as an advance practice nurse working in adult mental health. Rebecca has a variety of nursing experiences including hospital, clinic, school nurse, and as a parish nurse to mention a few. She served in the US Army Nurse Corps and retired after 21 years of dedicated military service.
She chose the name Affinitas for her business intentionally. Affinitas is Latin for connections. She has a passion for making connections with those who come to see her. She believes in the importance of making sure the client is heard. She loves educating people to help them understand their diagnosis. Communication is her priority.
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, she is licensed and has experience in treating only mental illness. A psychiatric evaluation is needed to make accurate diagnosis and at times other interventions are needed such as bloodwork, X-rays, ECG to mention a few. If other health concerns are identified, she will refer the client to other providers in the community to manage the issues.
About Affinitas Appointments
Medication is only one aspect of mental health treatment. Research has clearly shown that therapy and medication together are often the best way to treat a mental illness. This will be discussed during the evaluation and if indicated a referral for Out Patient Therapy will be made.
On the day of your appointment, you can come alone or bring someone with if you choose. If you have small children, it is best if you arrange for childcare. This way our time can be spent intentionally on assessment, diagnosis and developing a treatment plan.
We accept most commercial insurances: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Medica, Health Partners, Cigna, United Health Care, Medicare, ND and MN Medicaid, and TriCare. Clients can also self pay. We will always verify insurance before scheduling an appointment.
